Professional In-Office Whitening Treatment Process

Once you are ready to begin your whitening treatment, your dental professional will discuss which type of results you can expect to achieve and how many dental whitening applications it will take to get you to your desired shade. Many patients experience fantastic whitening results in just one visit. However, patients with a significant amount of staining may require more than one whitening appointment to achieve their desired shade.

Your dental professional will apply the whitening agent to your teeth. Once the whitening agent is properly applied to your teeth, a special activating light will be shone on the teeth to activate the whitening agent for approximately fifteen minutes. These steps are repeated two or three more times during the appointment until the desired shade of whitening is achieved.

After Your Whitening Treatment

At the end of your whitening appointment, your dental professional will provide you with post-care instructions to ensure that you get the best results from your whitening treatment. Be sure to avoid foods such as coffee or wine immediately after your whitening treatment. Avoid using abrasive whitening toothpaste as well, as it may cause tooth sensitivity immediately after your whitening appointment.
